CD REVIEW: Norma Jean-Redeemer
Artist: Norma Jean
Album: Redeemer
Reviewer: Binge Candy
Link: www.normajeannoise.com/
Norma Jean is:
Scottie Henry - Guitar
Chris Day - Guitar
Cory Brandan - Vocals
Daniel Davison - Drums
Jake Schultz - Bass
There is one thing that is undeniable when you first listen to this CD, Norma Jean keeps delivering their sound with the same energy and intensity as their previous albums. Cory Brandans' vocals are much cleaner in this album and at the same time they stay true to his crushing and heavy vocal roots.
Lyrically the band has obviously spent a lot of time writing and thinking about what to put on the album, and their effort has definitely not been unseen. I think this contributes to the success of the album, you got the whole package with the message and the music.
When you listen to the first track "A Grand Scene for a Color Print" it rushes into a chaotic and loud start only to calm down and get back up to the chaos of notes thats yet to come on all the other tracks. I would say this time Norma Jean's sound is a more "mature" sound compared to their other albums. Not to take away from the intensity they delivered on the previous albums, but i would say musically this has been the album that has finished defining who Norma Jean is and what we can expect from them in the future.

One of the best christian bands I have ever heard. Not that that should be a reason for liking them. It's just surprising to me, that's all. When I found out they were christian, well, it just tripped me out.
Do you find this valuable?
