There are alot of disappointing summer tours out there, Ozzfest, Family Values (not like it was ever great) Slayer (but with Marilyn Mason and Bleeding Through though????)so Sounds of The Underground was my winner this summer with cool bands like Shadows Fall Chimaira, GwAR, Darkest Hour, and Goatwhore. Instead of wasting your time a review of every band I'll just point out the bands that stood out for me.
The Good:

Goatwhore: I really feel like they deserved a better slot on this tour. Their on the road constantly and they were alot better than all of the other early acts of the day. They are old school black metal with no symphony or stupid corpse paint! This band is all bout the music and it shows. They were a kick in the ass that really woke the crowd up and they got a great response

Darkest Hour:Another band that had a crappy slot on the tour. The basically played to a bunch of impatient Job For A Cowboy fans. Anyway they slayed the part of the crowd that was paying attention. The played some new material from Deliver Us and bought back material all the way from "Mark of The Judas"

Chimaira: It was great to see the band back and kicking ass. The last time I saw them was on this tour in 2005, its great to see they still have massive fan support as the pits were nasty. The played a good mix of new and old material as well. Hopefully I can check them out on a headlining tour sometime soon.

Shadows Fall:Although I may not be too crazy about their new album Shadows Fall still know how to bring the house down. Although I would like to hear more off of "Of One Blood" you cant argue with songs like "Stepping Outside The Circle" "The Light That Blinds", "Eternity Is Within", and "Thoughts Without Words". This band has a lot of material now so hopefully next time they'll play for more than a half hour and play something off one of their older albums.

GWAR: Gwar was Gwar and love them or hate them you wont be bored during their live show. I thought it was funny how they killed Lordi on stage.I'm still not a big fan musically but some the newer material they played was pretty good, not as goofy and silly as the old days.They were the perfect comic relief to end a day of metal.

The Bad:

Every Time I Die: Sorry still not a fan.

The Number 12 Looks Like You:Possibly some of the wost music Ive ever heard how could somebody like that??

The Devil Wears Prada:Stupid name after a chick flick movie? Not a good way to start. Unfortunately the music wasn't any good either

Amon Amarth:A lot of people I know like this band and their not a bad band they just were a little boring for my tastes. I would've rather had Dark Tranquillity or The Haunted instead

Job For A Cowboy: If this band wasn't so overrated and over hyped I might of been able to stand their set. But their fans acted like retards all day and gave other bands shit all day. I hate scene kids.

Well thats pretty much it for SOTU for 2007. Hopefully next year they can pick a better lineup because this one wasn't that great. Also the venue sucked as well.
But as far this summers metal tours go I guess this is as good as it gets.
