Don't know how many of you are still checking this page for Reviews or Adding your own but there are a couple new features to check out.

Song Reviews
If you look at the Navigation bar to the left you'll notice a new section entitled "Song Reviews."
If your like myself and browse the web on myspace or pure volume for new music, then you come across hundreds of new songs. Some dreadfully terrible and many great ones as well. Feel free to use the "Song Review" section to add reviews on your recently listened to material. If you happen to like a bands song and head out to purchase the album then you can go review the album afterwards in our CD Review sections. Just another way to get an artists music out there!

Featured Videos
This is another new section where myself or (you) can post any Music videos that you want. Live or what not, find a video, if the quality is great and sound is superb then add it. If you want, drop a line on what you think about the video and share with us artists that we may miss.

A new year is upon us, in a few days, its going to be the year 2008. Lets strive to make hitthepit.com what it use to be. if your like me and remember hit the pit from its mega kung fu days, then you know what I am talking about. In todays world, the internet makes it even easier to find out about new bands and get a different persons respected opinion on each artist. So far this is the only web based WIKI that offers Music reviews by the people for the people. So please tell your friends, make postings, create accounts and lets get this site rolling like it use to.

CHIMAIRA & INTO ETERNITY REVIEWS

8/3/07 White Stripes review.....pretty freakin BAD ASS! Not what you would expect!

"When I heard the song "Icky Thump" on the radio I was not a huge fan! In fact, I had no inclination about buying the album. On a quick trip into Newbury comics to pick up some new shades, I heard a few songs of the CD. I liked what I heard. I brought it home, cranked up the stereo (the only way to listen to music) and enjoyed what some have related to as the sound of Led Zeppelin....."

Slow Descent

2009 introduced "Before The Fall's" first 12 song album entitled Slow Descent. My first question was slow descent into what? After listening to the first song entited "Vicious" I had to hit repeat. I repeated every song at least two times. My favorites were "Darkness", "Eject", "Control", "With You" and even "Shut up & Take it" (which was a little more hardcore rock (Pantera) than other songs on the album. By no means am I over looking tracking like "Brutal, Vein, Save Me, Lullaby, In The Garden or Devil Made Me" of which a few of those songs could be mainstream hard rock radio tunes. My biggest question was why Slow Descent and then after listening to the album I realized I slowly descended into a fan of this band www.beforethefall.net

CD REVIEW: Heavy Heavy, Low Low 'Everything's Watched, Everybody's Watching'

The whole faux grind thing has been wearing thing for quite awhile, but to some degree the idea was understandable, taking the lightning fast pace of grindcore and mixing it with the fan friendly ideals of the emo / metalcore scene seemed like a cool way to expose fans of each genre to one another. Bands like Bodies in the Gears of Apparatus and Tower of Rome put out some rather first rate material (see the former's killer side of their split with Despised Icon) but there was absolutely no need to take things this far. 'Everything's Watched, Everyone's Watching' grates on every single nerve, illustrating a swirling shitstorm of cliched, and poorly executed, spoken word / scream vocals (doesn't matter the pitch), boring metalcore breakdowns, trying-to-be-but-not-quite-ironic-and-just-stupid song titles, and horrid Daughters-esque freakouts. Imagine if the proprietors of Some Girls were beaten retarded and forced to play Every Time I Die covers, then you may begin to understand the album's sound. To their defense, Heavy Heavy , Low Low does have some killer merch, it's just too bad that the only thing one receives from this listening experience is the knowledge to never, ever place this rancid piece of plastic anywhere near a stereo. Listen, if your trying to get your more progressive metalcore fix stick with the new Norma Jean record, if you want some more modern grind pick up anything by Insect Warfare, if you want a spazzy mixture of the two break out that new Ground Unicorn Horn 7", but whatever you do, stay far, far away from this modern music disaster.

These dudes recently hit me up on Myspace. Like everyone else, I get hundreds of band requests a week. Unlike everyone else, I actually listen to them. Some are decent, some are absolutely terrible, and then every now and then I get a band like Get Carried Away.

The first song to play was a new one called "Desperate for Attention." It immediately caught my ear. Brutal drumming, heavy fast guitars, ZAO vocals. As I listened further into the song, suddenly I realized with a little bit of direction and a much better recording, these dudes will be going somewhere. They already have the talent and the ear for heavy music. They just need a little bit of direction and flow. At a couple certain points in the song it feels like its all over the place but then they come and redeem themselves. I'm actually quite interested to hear more from this band in the future. In a year if they are all still together and doing what they have to do, I'm sure they'll be touring non-stop.

Think of your standard "metalcore" song and thats exactly where this ranks. Done very well though, with low vocals and then your every now and then high vocals. Very much like their old stuff but the recording is much better. I'm a fan cause I enjoy this type of music, but it gets old. I hope the whole record is not the same format as this one song.
